BioBag® is a world leader in providing bags and films for the collection of organic waste for the purpose of composting. Our mission is to keep organic waste from ever entering a landfill. Unlike regular plastic bags, BioBags are made from a resin derived from plants, vegetable oils and compostable polymers and can be consumed by micro-organisms that live in our soils. Because of this, our BioBags can be readily composted along with organic waste at municipal composting facilities.
Over the years, the BioBag brand name has become synonymous with high quality, certified compostable bags with consumers and businesses across the country. We work closely with community governments to establish food waste separation programs and help educate consumers on the benefits of keeping food waste and other compostable items from entering landfills. BioBags play an important part in the collection of organic waste for composting. Simply said, “We Get It!!”
Today, BioBag is the leading retail brand of compostable bags in the country! (SPINS/IRI). We are proud that “You Get It,” too!!!

BioBag Americas is a fully-owned subsidiary of BioBag International (Norway) with headquarters in Dunedin, Florida. BioBag Americas was originally established in 2002 when BioGroupUSA secured the sales and marketing rights for the United States from BioBag International. The founder of BioGroupUSA, Dave Williams, and his partner, entrepreneur Terry Phillips believed strongly that certified compostable bags and films would soon become a necessary and viable part of solving food waste separation issues as “Zero Waste” initiatives expanded across the country.
In 2011, BioGroupUSA changed its name to BioBag Americas, as the business was expanded to South America and Canada.
2021 brought even more exciting news with the acquisition of BioBag and all their subsidiaries by Novamont. Italy’s Novamont is a world leader in the development and production of biochemicals and compostable bioplastics.
The acquisition allows Novamont to benefit from BioBag’s highly-specialized independent distribution in areas where the buyer is less present. The two companies will be able to offer a more complete solution set to the market and create long-lasting alliances with key stakeholders, such as large retailers and communities.
Together, we plan to build even more demonstrators (innovative projects that enhance separate organic waste collection and composting systems), especially in North America, the Scandinavian countries, Eastern Europe, and Australia.

BioBag has been a proud and active member of the US Composting Council (USCC) for decades. We support their mission of advancing compost manufacturing, compost utilization, and organics recycling to benefit society and the environment.
